Vladslo

CWXRM • Belgium

I was asked to contribute a piece of work for the CWXRM exhibition in the Palingbeek, Ieper, Belgium, remembering all victims of WWI. The poem was written by the war poet Willy Verhegghe and reflected on the unbearable pain parents face when their sons were killed in action. He talks about the war cemetery Vladslo, easily remembered by its structured architecture of flat grey stoneslabs. In this piece every slab represented one letter of the used text.
